Job Description: Responsible for all maintenance aspects of the Bulkmatic shop and the day-to-day oversight of the terminal facility. A Shop Lead reports directly to the Terminal Leader and follows the
required maintenance guidelines set forth by the Vice President of Maintenance and the Department of Transportation. Job Requirements:
- Manage the day to day shop activity. Responsible for ensuring that work is completedeffectively and timely in order to maintain uninterrupted service. This includes but is not limitedto planning all repairs, PMs, DVIRs, sending yard checks, ordering parts, responding to/writingcorrespondence and completing work orders. Assures inventory is maintained effectively andaccurately audited. Will address issues, problems and/or discrepancies. Will trouble shoot theequipment, determine the best option for repairs and adhere to preventative maintenanceschedules. Proactively pursues logical, safe and efficient solutions to assist in the growth andsuccess of the operation.
- Assist Terminal Manager/Complete required data elements. Works closely with TerminalLeader to ensure consistent adherence to practices and policies. Ensure compliance withgovernmental regulations, customer expectation and company standards. This includes but is notlimited to daily completion of the master sanitation, processing terminal invoices. Providesfeedback and information with regard to shop and terminal objectives to the Terminal Leader on aconsistent and ongoing basis.
- Oversee employee safety, satisfaction and performance. Responsible for complying with andensuring compliance with all safety-related requirements (including the use of required safetyequipment), timely addressing or elevating employee concerns and performance discrepancies asappropriate to the Terminal Leader. Operates in a manner that is consistent with safe operationsand complies with safety rules. Will promote clean and safe working conditions.
- Perform repairs, complete shop projects and assignments as required or requested bymanagement. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance as needed, as scheduled or asrequired. All work will be completed in a manner that is consistent with company standards forsafety and compliance. Will travel as needed to secure parts, meet vendors, assess equipment, etc.Will acquire bids as needed. Will secure vendors and buyers for the redistribution equipment andparts.
- Represent the Company and Carry Out Duties in a Civil and Respectful Manner.
Qualifications and Requirements: Age and Experience:
- Minimum age - 18 years (in compliance with state/federal labor regulations).
- Must have completed high school or equivalent.
- 4 years of management or supervision preferred.
- Related certifications desired but not required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to comprehend and comply with policies and comprehend instructions.
- Must have thorough working knowledge of fleet equipment.
- Must be able to complete tractor-trailer repairs
- Must have proficient computer and typing skills, using Cetaris software (or a comparablemaintenance software), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and other Companysoftware systems.
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language and communicate effectivelywith other employees and vendors both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
- Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to move vehicles from time to time.
- Must be motivated and able to work independently to complete assignments.
- Must be motivated to learn and execute the tasks and functions associated with the role.
Physical Responsibilities:
- Must be able to wear and use required safety equipment.
- May be required to perform demanding physical work on occasion and/or for extendedperiods of time, including: walking/standing, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing,pulling, squatting, kneeling, climbing, etc.
- Must have manual dexterity to operate tools, controls and or equipment.
- May be required to climb trailers if necessary and be comfortable with heights.
- Must be able to perform required tasks outside in various weather conditions.
